Gansbaai Gansbaai Tourism Bureau Main Attractions Dangerpoint Lighthouse - Came into use on the 1st January 1895. It was here that the legendary HM Transport Birkenhead Ship met her doom on the fateful night on the 26th February 1852 with the loss of about 445 lives. After further losses of more than 20 ships, the Dangerpoint lighthouse was commissioned and building started on the 14th April 1894.
