Villiersdorp Villiersdorp Tourism Bureau Major Attractions Theewaterskloof Dam Theewaterskloof Sports Association - Fishing & Sailing Tel - 028 8401334 The Town was established in 1843 by field-cornet Peter de Villiers and when a request was made to the Governor of the Cape for a name to keep the French origin, he called it "de Villiers dorp". Field cornet de Villiers was accompanied by an unmarried man, Pieter Graaff, who farmed the land and Graaff later married the de Villiers' daughter, Annie. The two well-known Graaff brothers, David and Jacobus de Villiers Graaff, were born of this marriage. In 1907 Sir David de Villiers Graaff left a handsome endowment to establish the now well know De Villiers Graaff schools. Eco/Wildlife Wild Flower and Nature Reserve - Tel 028 8401130 |
